For decades, this place has basically had a "no men allowed" policy...but they might be going a little stir-crazy
At face value, it sounds like every straight dude’s dream — a town in Brazil filled with women…and only women. Cue the Adriana Lima fantasies. But dig a little deeper and the reality is a little more complex.
It all started way, way back in the 1890s, when Maria Senhorinha de
Lima was shunned and excommunicated after fleeing her forced marriage.
She founded a new town, Noiva do Cordeiro, and women who were likewise
shunned found their way there. Eventually, fed up with dudes, they
decided to take a cue from Beyoncé and create a world run by girls.
Today, the southeast Brazilian town boasts a population of about 600
women. A few of them have husbands, but they’re only allowed to enter
the town on weekends, according to the Daily Mail.
And no, they don’t kill off their male children in some ancient cultish
ritual. Boys are reportedly kicked out when they turn 18.

Nelma Fernandes, a 23-year-old who lives there, said
the town is “prettier, more organized, and far more harmonious than if
men were in charge. And there’s always time to stop and gossip, try on
each other’s clothes and do each other’s hair and nails.” Essentially,
it sounds like a sorority house plopped down on the Brazilian
countryside.

Guys, if that sounds like your kind of dreamland, good news — they’re
recruiting eligible young bachelors to come on in! Turns out, some
young women in the town are craving testosterone: “Here, the only men we
single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a
cousin,” Nelma says. “I haven’t kissed a man for a long time.”
But before you hop on the next flight to Brazil, be warned that you
may have to adjust your attitude. That’s because you’d be walking into a
strictly female-run world — Nelma explains
that any male residents would have to “do what we say and live
