Singer opens up about life, mistakes and Rihanna
That simple admission by embattled singer Chris Brown appears on the cover of the newest issue of Billboard magazine as the lead for what looks to be his most honest and personal interview since he was released from jail back in June.
Or maybe ever.
The “Loyal” crooner spoke to the magazine about his life behind bars, his relationship with Rihanna, his loyal fanbase and his upcoming sixth LP, X.
“I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public
scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that
exposure,” Brown told Billboard. “I can say that I am only
human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in
the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No
one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live
in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope
that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the
moments that will make up my life.”
While Brown’s comments seem to be poignant and introspective, just
two weeks after his sit down with the publication, he was back in the
negative news cycle after Suge Knight
was shot multiple times at Brown’s pre-VMA party on August 24. However,
besides the fact that the shooting happened at his party, Brown has not
been linked to the shooting at all. And according to Knight, it doesn’t even matter who shot him.
The exclusive cover story will be available in its entirety Friday (September 5).
