FA254 announced Doreen Mashika as the winner of the African Designers
for Tomorrow (ADFT) competition, beating nine other designers to the
title.
The competition, which was launched in July by FA254, was
established with the aim of giving emerging African designers an
opportunity to showcase and sell their pieces to the European market.
The finalists were carefully selected by a panel of local fashion
experts including Diana Opoti, Ingrid Tamborin, Franklin Saiyalel, Linda
Murithi, Marc Oliver and Evgeniya
Khromina. All 10 designers were present on Tuesday (Sept. 18) at Sankara
Nairobi, Kenya, where the winner of the coveted title was announced.
The finalists included Ami Shah, Anne Mpinga, Anthony Mulli, Doreen
Nemael Mashika, Gladys Macharia, Hardeep Channa, Ivy Chege, Katungulu
Mwendwa, Lorna Abwonji and Sisi King.
The ADFT competition was in collaboration with Vogue Germany, ESMOD International Fashion School Berlin and eBay Fashion.
As the winner, Doreen will get to showcase her collection during Berlin
Fashion Week 2015 and will also exclusively sell her collection on
eBay.
