Race-hate 'killer wanted to start a civil war': Pill-popping suspect admits planning for SIX MONTHS the gun attack on black church that left nine dead
Shooting suspect Dylann Storm Roof is alleged to have spent six months
planning Wednesday's attack on a bible study meeting in a church in
Charleston, South Carolina, which left nine people dead.
The 21-year-old
has been escorted in prison stripes onto a plane to be extradited from
North Carolina, after he was arrested shortly before noon EST on
Thursday in Shelby, 250 miles north of the scene of the crime. At 6.20pm
local time he was seen in a jumpsuit, chains, handcuffs and a
bullet-proof vest being chaperoned by dozens of armed police officers on
to an airplane at Shelby-Cleveland County Regional Airport bound for
South Carolina.
His roommate has since revealed he wanted to start a
'civil war', and survivors of the massacre claim Roof sat in the room
for over an hour before standing up and saying: 'You rape our women and
you're taking over our country. And you have to go.' He was detained
after a member of the public spotted his car and called 911. Police say
he surrendered without contest and was taken into custody when an
officer approached his black Hyundai.
